BUYING OFF THE PLAN

1 December 2019

When you buy off the plan, you are paying for a property where the end product may differ from your expectations. Potential buyers must review the contract carefully to understand exactly what they are buying.

Generally, the buyer pays a deposit to secure the property with the balance payable upon settlement. The date for completing the contract is usually not until the building is finished.

Carefully check the conditions of the contract, and obtain legal advice on the terms of the contract and the benefits and restrictions they contain.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION SERVICES WHEN YOUR MARRIAGE BREAKS DOWN

25 February 2020

The Family Court of Australia and Federal Circuit Court of Australia use dispute resolution services (funded by the Australian Government) because they are an affordable and often quick option for resolving disputes, while allowing you greater control and management of the process and the outcome.

Where possible, you should seek legal advice before deciding what the best option for your dispute is. A lawyer will be able to help you understand your rights and responsibilities and can explain the law that applies to your case. They can also help you and your former partner reach an agreement without needing to come to court.
